I visited an artist residency in Trivandrum/South India in 2001. The work developed there focused on interior spaces of institutions of higher education. I was photographing offices of principles, classrooms, libraries and teacher's lounges of government and private colleges and universities in the state of Kerala.
The juxtaposition between the marks of the founding fathers - the British or missionaries, and other signs, which indicate the intensive and alive search for a new identity, make these spaces into records of the past and present, and change at the same time.
